I must say that the movie consolidated its characters well. In the story we can see how Hotaru accepted an inescapable reality, aside from that, there is not a lot of drama between the characters. That even the smallest things can bring us happiness and yeah, it might be short, only lasts 45mins, but it will remain forever in my heart.

This lovely story taught us a lot about how we should enjoy and cherish every minute of our lives with the people we love. Seeing Hotaru grow up in this anime gives me a strong sense of nostalgia of recounting those days of blissful summer vacations. The thing that I appreciated the most was how Hotaru told us their story, how she knew her love was reciprocated and that was a big reason for her to be happy and thankful instead of being depressed for the rest of her life. I am not going to say I did not understand him, our sweet protagonist is too precious. Gin was hanging from a thread with his condition, but I guess our white-haired spirit guy liked to live his life to the fullest getting attached to Hotaru. Unfortunately, that did not happen at all. But sometimes we want to be optimistic and think that everything will be okay, that they may find a way to solve the problem. Well, maybe we could have seen that outcome. But if we appreciated it well, we could perceive the little details on how our protagonists were slowly growing and it is something that gave me a satisfactory sensation.Īs the story goes, I started to get a bad feeling about Gin, like my sensitive side telling me that I would end up crying out of nowhere, but guess what? I did not cry at all… okay just kidding, to be honest, I think I got a big shock the first time I saw what happened to our masked guy. The story might seem rushed and without big deep developments. We see a cute friendship that started to grow since Hotaru was rescued by Gin when she was a little girl. The plot is really easy to follow, and everything goes smoothly, we can appreciate an innocent love story between Hotaru and Gin. I felt like I was standing there enjoying a hot summer day surrounded by a natural environment, sadly I was not ugh. This short movie took place in an enchanting green forest, the singing of the birds and cicadas just made me daydream. However, alongside this path, feelings will start to grow stronger and their determination will be at stake even though they know it is dangerous. Since that day Hotaru and Gin spent every summer vacation and like this they started to get attached to each other, creating a beautiful friendship. He offered his help to Hotaru but with the only condition that she will not touch him under any circumstances. Incapable of finding a way to return, she started to cry and like this she attracted the attention of a masked guy.

According to the rumours, the place is inhabited by yokais. One day, Hotaru gets lost in the forest while she was visiting her grandparents’ house during summer vacations. Gin’s body carries a curse given by the God of the Mountain: one touch from a human and he will vanish forever. Hotarubi no Mori e shows us the story of forbidden love between a normal girl, Takegawa Hotaru and Gin, a spirit that cannot let humans touch him. This short film took a percentage of my heart, tears and smiles, and I swear that it will take yours, too. I may have watched this movie like 6 or 7 times already, but I still cannot get enough of it. I don’t really know how I came across Hotarubi no Mori e – it may have been fate or something like that? It was like my life needed this. Genres: Drama, Romance, Shoujo, Supernatural Alternative Titles: To the forest of Firefly Lights, Into the Forest of Fireflies’ Light, 蛍火の杜へ
